Foundation Apprenticeship Programme

You’re in the driving seat of your future, but DAY1 can certainly help steer you on the right track (literally!). Our SQA Accredited Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) Training Programme provides an introduction to the automotive industry, where you’ll learn about vehicle maintenance, repair fitting, electrical work, paint operations and roadside assistance.

The course takes place over one year and is based within our social enterprise at Inverness Kart Raceway, where you’ll gain hands-on, real-world work experience.

The course aims to help you develop the practical and problem-solving skills, as well as the knowledge and understanding needed to grow your career within the automotive industry. You’ll also learn key employability skills that can be transferrable to other jobs too, including:

  • an understanding of the workplace and employee responsibilities (e.g. timekeeping, organisation and customer care)
  • self-evaluation skills
  • positive attitude to learning
  • flexible approaches to solving problems
  • adaptability and positive attitude to change
  • confidence to set goals, reflect and learn from experience.
  • working as a team player

The course is primarily aimed at S4 – S6 pupils from DAY1’s partnership secondary schools across the Scottish Highlands

where can it take me?
