How to amend your Will
How to make a Will
If you have already made your Will but would like to change a Clause, either by replacing it completely or by adding DAY1 as a beneficiary, here is a brief explanation of how it can be done:

Amending your Will is usually quite a simple process. First, you will need to decide if you want to leave us a specific sum of money, or a share of your overall estate. The proposed legacy to DAY1 can then be documented in a "codicil" (a form of legal appendix) to your will.

The bequest should be worded in favour of "Day1 Limited, a company incorporated under the Companies Acts, having its registered office at Pentland House, Fyrish Way, Alness, Ross-shire IV14 9AB, (company number 291616 and registered charity number SC036896)".

However you should consult a professional adviser about how best to do this so that the codicil makes sense in the context of your existing will. Once you have signed it, the codicil should be held with the original of your will for safe keeping.

The best person to advise you on making your Will is your solicitor or other professional advisor. If you would like to leave a gift for DAY1 in your Will then it is very simple to do so and here is a brief explanation on both making a will and leaving a gift:

For most people, making a Will is quite a straightforward process, and far less painful than say a visit to the dentist! In all cases proper professional advice must be sought, usually from a solicitor, so that you end up with a completed Will tailored to your needs.

The main points to address in preparing a Will are (a) the appointment of executors to implement the terms of your Will, (b) the making of any specific legacies (that is, any defined sums of money or defined possessions), and (c) dealing with the "residue" of your estate (that is, the remainder of whatever else you own at the time of death). A Will may address many other requirements as well, depending on your requirements.

If you wish to leave a legacy to DAY1, then first of all you need to decide if you want to leave us a specific sum of money, or a share of your overall estate. The proposed legacy must then be documented in your Will. The bequest should be worded in favour of "Day1 Limited, a company incorporated under the Companies Acts, having its registered office at Pentland House, Fyrish Way, Alness, Ross-shire IV14 9AB (company number 291616 and registered charity number SC036896)"

Once you have signed the will, then the original should be kept in a safe place where people know to find it as and when you die. Remember that a will is simply a "snapshot" of your circumstances and intentions at the time it was made, and if those change in the future, then you may need to amend the provisions in your will.

Of course if you have any questions then please do give us a call at any time. Thank you for considering DAY1 as a beneficiary.
